REPORT 5

After the presentation, there are a lot of things that I need to improve which are:
- need to specific more about the mental illness that more focused to the role of OT not as general scope.
- always know about what the information that I put in the slide, so that I able to explain to the class
- must be confident when talking to the audience and maintain the eye contact with them 
- do not simply read the slide and ignore the audience 

Progress of the Projek Diabetes Komuniti :

Several problems came out and we need to find a solution for it. The date of the project is plan to be postponed. I tried to call En. Rafizi to discussed with him about the problem and to collect the questionnaire that i gave him in the first meeting. Unfortunately, En. Rafizi unable to meet me because he need to attend important meeting but he passed me to talk with his assistant in his office. I told the assistant about the problem which is I want to postponed that date of the project. Cik Nadia, the assistant asked me to direct interact with the head of community of Taman Sri Nanding. I called En. Ismail ( head of community of Taman Sri Nanding) and arrange an appointment to discussed with him about the project. Then, he told me that he cannot guarantee whether we can proceed to postpone the date because the hall may be used by the villager to use the hall for wedding ceremony. Seriously, I felt really stressed at this moment. The reason why we want to postpone the date because we want to prepare more and do the promotion for this project. At the end, we discussed back and decide to proceed with the first date which is 4th November 2012.

2 days later, we went to Taman Sri Nanding and distribute the 100 flyers to the residence of Taman Sri Nanding. We went to house by house and meet the residence. We invite them to our project. Alhamdulilah, we got positive response from the residence. I felt really relieved. En. Ismail told us that some of the booking had been cancelled due to our planned that we want to postponed the project, but En. Ismail told me not to worry because he able to help us to sort out the problem. Thanks GOD!!!

Then, we received a news that Dr. Saz unable to give a talk in the event. We tried to asked Dr. Farah to replace Dr. Saz but she also unable to attend it because she need to attend family day. Pn. Rafidah agreed to give a talk about the role of OT in diabetes care but she advised us that she cannot give two talk at the same time because the audience may be bored. Then, I was asked to give a talk about the diabetes. I accept the task but frankly speaking I'm really NERVOUS!!!!!. This is my 1st experience but I'll try my best for my team. 

Farhana helped me to prepare the slide and I study about diabetes sign and symptom and the effect of diabetes. I'm really glad that I have a supportive team members that always give a good cooperation throughout this project. 

Allah really love us. 2 of our classmates are willing to help us as volunteer because we really need a volunteer and one of my friend from other college come together and help us during the project.

Alhamdulilah, Allah make my task easy and I able to find the contact of the head of community of Daerah Hulu Langat. We name our project as Projek Diabetes Komuniti. First, I contact En. Rafizi which is the Ketua Penghulu of Daerah Hulu Langat. En. Rafizi gave a good response to me when I voice out about our project to him. He asked me to come and see him to discuss further about the project. I decided to see him and I went to Hulu Langat with my partner Pau Ke Lee. We went to Hulu Langat and bring along the proposal about our project and also the questionnaire to conduct a survey about the knowledge of the residence regarding diabetes disease and how far they know about occupational therapy service and role in hospital. En. Rafizi said that the villager could provide the hall and also sponsor the food for the participants and also provide PA system for us. I really glad and appreciate because they really give a good cooperation. Not only that, they understand about our main problem which is we lack of funds to pay for the hall and PA system. So, they decided to give us to used the for free. Alhamdulilah. Our project will be conducted on 4th of November 2012 from 8.30 am to 4 pm. 

Progress for my presentation, I already decided to put the main sign and symptom and also the type of Schizophrenia. I hope that my classmates can gain knowledge from it.

What I learn through this week :

- I able to improve my communication skill with other people especially in discussing about the project

 

REPORT 3

The information regarding my task on Schizophrenia seems to be quite satisfied because all the information that I required already inside the journal and I felt more interesting to read the journal and make it as my reference because the author is our Malaysian people. Our project regarding health promotion still on progress. We planned to change our project which is at the beginning we try to make a project with cancer pt. After deeply thought from all the members and considering about the risk that must be taken, we unable to proceed with the project. We discussed again about the project and come out with the idea to make a project related with diabetes disease. I was seen the poster about Diabetes Day in HUKM last week and this project is a conjunction of the Diabetes Day. We planned to conduct the health promotion project in the village near Selangor area. I really excited with this project and I eager to carry out this project. I was asked by the team captain to find several village that will be our target to conduct the project. I was short listed the village that can be choose which are Hulu Langat, Beranang, Semenyih and Rawang. We also discuss roughly about the content of our program which is basically we want to  conduct health screening and talk about diabetes and occupational therapy role in diabetes care. 

Throughout this week I learn about :
- How to gather the important information that can be used to be presented
- To make a strategy to find the contact of the head community of the village
- To gather information as the content in the talk that will be given during the project

REPORT 2

I got a tasked to find an information about mental illness which is more specific about Schizophrenia, its sign and symptom and type of Schizophrenia. The interesting is I successfully found an article regarding Schizophrenia: the most serious psychotic disorders written by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Azizi Hj. Yahaya. I understand more about Schizophrenic pt when I read this journal. It tell me how the pt felt during the event and I can imagine the experience that the pt face even it is not real. The fact is Schizophrenia cannot be treated and it was hereditary. Symptoms of Schizophrenia are different for each individual that experienced it and not all the symptoms are required for the doctor to diagnose the person to have Schizophrenia. The symptom can be category into positive and negative symptom. Most common positive symptoms are delusions and hallucinations. As an OT student I had a big role in helping the pt that suffer with Schizophrenia such as by giving them education in ADL training and also return to work preparation. 

Through this task I learn how to appreciate the life that God give to us. Knowledge that I gained here will be applied in my daily life now and in the future. I'm looking forward to gain more knowledge in many fields so that one day I could help people who need my service as an OT and I'll try my best to give them the appropriate treatment and intervention.

What I learn throughout this task :
- find the suitable journal related with my topic ( because I always face a problem to find the journal)
- get more knowledge about Schizophrenia sign and symptom, and also the real condition that the pt face
- link the journal. Feel quite loser about this but at least I tried. Sorry Dr. Saz, I'll learn more about it.
- appreciate life.
